Can I disconnect the 4 wheel drive running gear from my suburban?

I just got this 99 Suburban 1500 with 4 wheel drive %26amp; the transfer case is broken open like an egg shell. I can't really afford a new one at the moment. So was wondering if I can some how disconnect the 4 wheel drive parts in the front %26amp; still be able to drive it until I can afford to buy the new part?

Any educated answer would be greatly appreciated!|||You can NOT drive the vehicle with a broken T-case. The fluid will leak out, the internal parts will seize and break, it may also will break the transmission case. Even if you remove the front drive shaft, the t-case internal components turn when driving and they NEED to lubricated.

Park the truck and save up the money to fix it properly.|||That second answer is more accurate. If the transfer case is unsealed only grief will come from continuing to use it. Converting to a full time 2wd system is probably more work and money than fixing what's wrong to begin with. Otherwise, keep crawling under there and filling up the lube. Good luck.|||Have the front drive shaft removed. Then remove the fuse for the 4wd actuator.
