In Four Wheel Drive Vehicles...What is the difference in 4lo,4hi and partime 4 wheel Drive?

1999 Dodge Dakota 5.2V8 4x4 with optional part time/full time transfer case.|||4lo is a real low gear ratio , you use it when you are out ,doing serious 4 digging , 4 high is a little bit quicker of a 4 wheel drive alot of people like to put them in 4 high for slick roads and boogie down the hiway ,, bad mistake ,4 wheel drives flip easy on slick roads , your part time is when you dont have it locked in|||4wd lo runs thru a gear reduction in ur transfer case truring 5 gear essintially into 2nd gear whilst 4wd hi runs at the original gear ratios as 2wd...part time 4wd allows the transfer case to switch back and forth from front wheel drive to rear wheel drive in order to stop binding in the transfer case and for gas mileage purposes...now go mud slingin and for god sakes put it in 4wd, not part time...ever
