Turning on part time 4 wheel drive?

Part time 4 wheel drive should only be used when there is snow/ice/mud under your wheels. It locks the differential up in the transfer case and damage will result if there is no slippery surface underneath. Full time 4 wheel drive should be used if you will be on any dry, or wet only roads.|||If you are asking how to do this you will need to give a little more info like what vehicle Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler or others.

The answer could be quite lengthy without that info. You would have to read a lot of info which might confuse you. Please edit with this info.|||Part time will only engage front wheel power when wheels slip.|||Part time will only work when you gently use the gas and when you put some power to the wheels ( not like taking off from a stop light , more like getting over that rock. ) It will kick out when you give the rig a bunch of gas. It will rock back and forth when you turn on hard surface while in 4 wheel drive. Or you will hear the tires spin out on dirt when you turn. Just because both wheels spin at the same speed no matter what.|||What is the question?|||put the car in neutral, select the drive and put it in first or D and go!
