I just bought two brand new 2011 cars. The first is a Chevy Traverse Front Wheel drive with stability traction control. (whatever that is!) and a Honda CRV four wheel drive but the 4 wheel drive is part time. We use the chevy traverse for the large family and I use the honda crv to go back and forth to work. We are planning a family trip from Mass to New Jersey on a weekend in winter. I am worried about snow though. Which car would be better in the snow? I know AWD is the best but we did not get that so which is better of the two we have? Thank you.|||AWD is no better than 4WD, don't be swayed by the advertising. 4 wheels (possible) turning, is 4 wheels turning.|||The Traverse is well suited to driving in snow although it is a front wheel drive and I think you will enjoy the ride quality over the Honda. The Traverse is also quite capable in the rain. The vehicle has the Stabilitrack system as well as traction control; these are two different systems that help control the vehicle while driving|||I would def say the honda BUT tyres make a huge difference
If the chevy has snow tyres and the Honda has road only tyres I would take the chevy
All things like tyres being equal the Honda should be much better - parttime/fulltime its still 4WD when needed though I don't think it has any dif locking|||If your not going off roading or backroads, You shouldn't have any traction problems with either vehicle, The main problem is stopping, in which they are about equal, slow down, watch for ice patches and other motorists, rain is no problem.|||Take the four wheel drive CRV, it will offer much more traction than a two wheel drive car.|||4 wheel drive
