How much to install 4 wheel drive?

Can I get an estimate on how much it would be to install 4 wheel drive on a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee TSi without service fees. Like how much for parts and all that. Thanx|||way way way more than it's worth (many thousands), and way more than it would cost you to sell what you have and buy one with 4wd on it already.|||depends on your determination and your mechanical skills

there are 97 grand cherokees that are 4x4...your best bet would be to get everything you need off a salvaged one...check your local junkyards or search around online.the best bet online would be to look at forums specifically for jeeps

that would def be cheaper than buying alot of the parts new.

def need a transfer case. possibly a trans. axles. control module. alot of interioir parts like the shifter and consoles. and many little parts...not sure of the complete setup for the cherokee or i could get you a full list of parts!

search search search...thats your best bet.

their gonna bend you over on labor for this. but if your determined enough and have mechanical skills...or some friends that do to help you its a possible job.

thats the only way youll be able to do this and afford it.

because it would propably be cheaper to just buy a 4x4 jeep grand cherokee than pay a shop to do it for you.|||you will need a transmission with the transfer case ( 1500)the front differential ( 1,000) springs (400) or a little more, a bigger radiator, 200, , hd shocks 200, its a job bus can be done with alot of work|||It is a uni body, you would probably have to make a lot of structural changes in addition to what others have mentioned. You can get a 97 4x4 for probably half of what it would cost you to make a 2x a 4x. Even if you had to rebuild half of it you would still be better off.

you should be able to buy a used 4x4 1997 grand for about $2,000-$4,000.|||Have it installed..you cannot make the numbers work.

Do it yourself..under $1000 with care.

Here you go how and what you are into.|||Sell the two wheel drive and buy a four wheel drive. It would cost thousands and you would never get your money back out of it|||Everyone is right about this one. It is not cost effective to convert. Sell it and buy one that is already 4x4.|||I know that it cost about 75 dollars to have me in the backseat of a 4 wheel drive Cherokee.
